Beachcombing
Jennifer Steen Booher’s photography shows off her scientific personality and love of objects. She writes, “I’m part magpie, part squirrel, part scientist, and part historian. I find things, hoard them, take them apart, and research them.” Her still life pictures prove that photography is not only about capturing fleeting moments; it’s about discovering art in the steady patterns of...

Stuffed mushroms
I can’t think of many things better than stuffed mushrooms! And with the holidays coming  up, this is a dish people are sure to love - that is, if you don’t eat them all before the party! Here is a mouthwatering recipe I found online.

Have a lovely weekend
Happy Friday! Guess where I am this weekend? I am in Singapore visiting my love. I will spend the week riding the largest ferris wheel in the world, swimming in infinite pools, exploring the new surroundings, kayaking, etc. Don’t worry I will be sure to post images upon my return in early December. I have scheduled some posts to go out while I am gone so keep checking in.

Big Jelly
The Lions Mane Jellyfish is the largest jellyfish in the world! They have been swimming in arctic waters since before the dinosaurs (over 650 million years ago) and are among some of the oldest surviving species in the world. The largest can come in at about 6 meters and has tentacles over 50 meters long. Pretty amazing when you think these things have been swimming around for so long. ...

Picture perfect
Xerox is working on an algorithm that can judge the aesthetics of photos. While I do agree that some photographers out there should not be allowed to hold a camera, who am I to judge their photos? After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder - right? Tell me what you think. Are there universal standards for aesthetics in the world of photography on which photos can be judged? You can try...

Where is the camera?
If you want to take pictures, wear the camera band on your thumb and the shutter button on your forefinger and gesture to click a pic. To take videos, simply curve your fingers to mimic a video camera grip and shoot. The tension from the finger movement triggers the shutter button to operate. I wonder how well this actually works. Regardless, its a pretty cool techie-gag-gift. Design by...

Cupcake decorating
Tonight I took a cupcake decorating class at Kathy’s Kreative Kakes. It was lovely! Look at the creations I came home with. With mainly butter cream frosting and fondant you can practically do anything! By the way, here is a recipe I found online for marshmallow fondant.

If they had words
It is true, sadly. Now I am not one of those vegan people who strut around naked and throw red paint on everything that looks like fur, but I do believe in humane farming and treatment of animals. Whether it was greed, survival of the fittest or whatever turned people to start cruelly treating animals, there has to be a line, a point, a time - when it stops.

Party trick
If you have leftover Champagne that is getting flat and you want to bring the bubbles back - drop a raisin in the bottle! Any carbon dioxide that’s left in the wine will stick to the raisin’s ridges and release as tiny bubbles. Isn’t that neat?

This is such a brilliant idea! Take a fancy cupcake pan and place cookie dough on top. Bake as usual and then carefully pick up (after cooled). Now you have cookie cups that you can fill with cream, ice cream, pudding, or anything else! This is sure please a crowd!
