The Tiny Light

Have you guys read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins? It is one of those best-sellers that everyone seems to be talking about, so I caved in and read it. I must admit, it was entertaining and addicting and I finished all three books in four days!

But then I got to thinking. This is book is Twilight all over again! An addicting story that was easy to read and straightforward - but the writing is quite boring and simplistic. Is this what society has been crazy for? What happened to literature and classics? These stories surely do not compare.

It is not to say I did not enjoy the book, I read them until it was dark outside and my eyes were sore from staring at the pages! But I would compare this sort of reading to watching television, entertaining without much stimulation.

Last point (and then I swear I will stop ranting for tonight) - the female character? Just as in Twilight the female character is beautiful, helpless, and swooned over by two gorgeous guys. I am a bit tired of this portrayal to be honest. I’d much rather prefer The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
